Infusing Vitality into the Quranic Discourse and Its Applications in the Approach of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) An Applied Study on the Protection of Contemporary Civil Peace
This study examines the concept of “preserving human life” in the Qur’anic discourse as a fundamental principle for safeguarding human life and protecting society from strife and conflict, while exploring its practical applications in the approach of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and elucidating its impact on consolidating civil peace and curbing manifestations of violence and strife. The study begins by clarifying the importance that Qur’anic texts attach to the sanctity of life, the prohibition against harming human life, and the call for reform, justice, and the elimination of causes of conflict, It then proceeds to examine Imam Ali’s (peace be upon him) stances and guidance regarding the management of crises and internal conflicts, particularly his emphasis on the necessity of avoiding bloodshed and prioritizing reform, dialogue, amnesty, and reconciliation whenever possible.
The study adopts an inductive, analytical, and applied methodology by compiling relevant Qur’anic verses, analyzing their meanings, and then comparing them with Imam Ali’s (peace be upon him) sayings, advice, and stances, which reveal a comprehensive system for the protection of individuals and society. It also seeks to apply these principles to contemporary reality and demonstrate how they can be utilized to address social conflicts, promote a culture of tolerance and dialogue, curb hate speech and violence, and entrench the values of justice, mercy, and social responsibility.
The study concludes that the prevention of bloodshed, from the Qur’anic and Ali’s perspective, is not a circumstantial stance dictated by crises, but rather a comprehensive civilizational, ethical, and legal principle based on safeguarding human dignity, preserving social unity, and prioritizing reconciliation over conflict. It also demonstrates that applying these principles to contemporary reality can contribute to building a social consciousness capable of addressing the causes of violence and tension and strengthening civil peace, thereby making the Qur’anic and Alawite heritage an effective resource for addressing contemporary social and humanitarian challenges.
